EXCERPTS:
Q: In summary, your profile, sir?
A: I am an indigene of Lagasa and I had my primary and secondary education at Awoyaya and Ibeju Community respectively. After graduating in flying colours, I proceeded to tertiary institution to acquire more knowledge in the health sector. I have served in Nigeria and overseas as a medical practitioner, providing remedies for the health challenges of the people.
Q: Being the Alagasa of Lagasa community, do you have a vision for your people?
A: We need collective efforts to position Lagasa on the world map; there is the need for all and sundry to champion the cause of nation ?building. Yes, there are challenges. We need a functional health centre in the community, a market, a public primary school, hygienic water and road infrastructure among other.
You will agree with me youth development is very key and we will not rest on our oars in ensuring that our youth are economically empowered through training and retraining programs that will help them to explore their God? given talents. Lagasa is blessed with a lot of mineral resources; we will explore these resources to enhance the fortunes of the people in synergy with appropriate quarters to achieve success. With God on our side we will make everything possible to ensure that Lagasa is among the best.
Q: You are a medical practitioner by training. How are you prepared to protect the tradition of the people?
A: A royal father has no religion. The constitutional duty of a royal father is to protect and preserve the entire religion in his domain, be it Muslim, Christian or traditionalist. The tradition of our forefathers is not evil but a way of life, and it has really helped us to identify who we are. Yes, I have worked abroad for several years but that does not make me forget tradition. I will not abolish our tradition; rather we will preserve and promote it and exhibits our uniqueness to the whole.
Q: What is your message to the people?
A: We need to stay positive at all times, look inwards on key areas that will enhance our fortunes. As a people we must be peaceful at all times and love one another, because we can only experience progress in an atmosphere of peace.
